QIA Requirement #1
CDC’s Making Dialysis Safer for Patients: Innovative Approaches to Hand Hygiene
This month your Intervention for the BSI QIA is the completion of the CDC’s Continuing Education Opportunity. CMS expects that participants utilize the CDC’s online Dialysis Infection Prevention tools as an adjunct to your organization’s competency assessments. This webinar presents strategies for successful hand hygiene education and opportunities to improve hand hygiene adherence. Discussion includes the roles of social learning, self-efficacy, and reinforcement theories in hand hygiene and CDC hand hygiene resources available to dialysis clinicians. We will ask about your completion of this activity on a future Monthly Reporting Form.
QIA Requirement #2
CDC Core Interventions Education
As you know, CMS recommends that all Outpatient ESRD facilities adopt and implement the nine (9) CDC Core Interventions for Dialysis BSI Prevention. Please reference the resource Dialysis Core Interventions Flyer to educate fellow staff of the rationale behind said interventions. We will ask how you used this resource on a future Monthly Reporting Form.
QIA Requirement #3
Understand and Brainstorm for your Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle
For this section, we are asking you to report the outcome of your Plan and Do sections and if your results have thus far agreed with your predictions. If you have data points to look at, think about what that data is telling you. Should you change something in your Plan or does your data support your changes? What were your barriers? Have you been (or will you be) able to overcome them? The PDSA Cycle 101 is a brief 3 minute video that gives an overview on how to effectively complete the PDSA Process.
